SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY Women's Soccer SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM FALLS 3-1 TO NOVA SOUTHEASTERN IN CONFERENCE OPENER Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (September 12, 2007) The Saint Leo University women's soccer team (3-2, 0-1 SSC) fell 3-1 to Nova Southeastern University (4-1, 1-0 SSC) in both teams' Sunshine State Conference opener on Wednesday night at the NSU Soccer Complex in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The Lions got their lone goal from midfielder Sara Macko (So., Valrico, Fla.) in a match that was delayed at the start due to lightning. NSU got on the board in the 13th minute when Hayley Oligane scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season. The Sharks doubled the advantage in the 27th minute when Lauren Prow took a through ball and slotted beyond Lauren Hudson (Jr., Odessa, Fla.). Saint Leo pulled a goal back in the 56th minute when Hannah Beard (So., Liverpool, England) found Macko on the left side of the area. The midfielder then hit a shot that caught a deflection and found the back of the net to make t a 2-1 match. The Sharks quickly restored their two-goal lead one minute after the Saint Leo goal, as a free kick bounced inside the area and Prow headed beyond Hudson for her second goal of the match. Saint Leo will return home on Saturday for a non-conference match against Palm Beach Atlantic University. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at University Field.
