Young SPC team puts up fight but falls in volleyball

After losing the first game Wednesday, St. Petersburg Catholic stormed back to win the next two against Canterbury before fatigue took hold. The Crusaders won 25-23, 16-25, 17-25, 25-19, 15-12.
"We just ran out of steam in Game 4," SPC coach Keith Aeschbach said.
The Barons have seven underclassmen on the roster, including sophomore setter Danielle Nickerson, who has never played volleyball before.
"I've got a very young team and I think we'll be good in a year or so, but right now we just have to take our lumps," Aeschbach said.
SPC was led by 10 kills from Molly Smith and eight aces from sister Melissa. Ali Sosa finished with four aces for the Barons.
"You have to give Canterbury a lot of credit," Aeschbach said. "Their defense and digging was really what kept them in the game."

They talk about a young team, well Canterbury has an 8th grader, 2 9th graders (one was hurt during the game), 1 sophomore, 1 junior, and 2 seniors. And their only healthy sub during that game was a junior in her very first year of volleyball
