A 42-year-old Riverview woman pretended to be a Department of Children and Families employee in order to take a 10-year-old girl from the home of a Seffner woman who was her caregiver, authorities said.
Felicia Prather of 12708 Early Run Lane was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of false imprisonment and impersonating a public officer, according to jail records.
It's not clear why Prather took the child on June 29, said Hillsborough sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway. The girl was found the next day.
"The suspect does know the family of the child. It's not a stranger-on-a-stranger situation," Callaway said. Prather isn't related to the girl, whose parents are dead and who lives with a guardian, deputies said.
