Friday Fantasy
By IZZY GOULD AND DAVID MURPHY, Times Staff Writers
Published September 14, 2007
If there were such a thing as fantasy high school football, these are the players we would pick:
Izzy Gould's picks:
Jesse Dustin
WR, Mitchell
Okay, Tate Humphrey's the man, but he has to have someone to throw to, and Dustin has been the go-to guy with 171 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Lance Hayes
QB/WR/S, Zephyrhills
So the secret is out on running back Chris Henry. Now Hayes has a chance to be the Bulldogs' next secret weapon.
David Bushnell
RB, Springstead
Already with a pair of 80-yard games, Bushnell brings consistency to the Eagles' backfield, hammering out holes for yards.
David Murphy's picks:
Sterling Ross
RB, Mitchell
Call it a hunch. Tate Humphrey is the obvious pick, but something tells me the Mustangs will start looking more toward their junior running back as the season goes on.
George Fribley
RB, Hernando
He's been nonexistent in the Leopards offense thus far. That changes tonight in a big way. I'm saying 200-plus yards on the ground.
Chase Walker
QB, Central
The offense needs a breakout game. Last year, it came in Week 3 against a team from Citrus County. It's Week 3, and Central is playing a team from Citrus County.
