String of injuries hits Marauders

As expected, Clearwater Central Catholic quarterback Brent Henderson will miss tonight's home game against St. Cloud Harmony because of a slightly separated shoulder. Henderson is not the only starter who will be out. The Marauders are missing tailback Micah Poole (back), receiver Paul Freedman (shoulder) and offensive lineman Nicholas Brundage (back). Danny Wood, a tight end/linebacker, has a strained calf and is a game-time decision, coach Mike Jalazo said.

PCAC swimming

When: Today-Saturday

Where: Southwest Pool

Schedule: Diving starts at 1:30 p.m. today. Swimming begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, and the finals are at 6 p.m.

Teams: Boca Ciega, Clearwater, Countryside, Dixie Hollins, Dunedin, East Lake, Gibbs, Lakewood, Largo, Northeast, Osceola, Palm Harbor University, Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg, Seminole, Tarpon Springs

Outlook: Last year, Countryside won its first girls title, beating Palm Harbor University by 23 points. The Hurricane boys won by a whopping 124.5-point margin. Both teams are expected to repeat as champions. There should be some fast swimming. Last year, nine records were broken.
