Kropa, Slovenia, July 2007:
Swirl of color on a gloomy day It was a predictably rainy day in Slovenia when we visited the mountain village of Kropa, which once was a major producer of iron, and iron works. Because of the gray gloom, photography was especially challenging. While searching for a scene that might capture the sense of the day, I saw this mother and son. Her rainbow umbrella, along with his bright yellow slicker, were just what the scene needed to provide a focal point. It was a bit of good fortune when the woman and her son walked into view. John G.
