brother-in-law dies, so charge now is murder
Joshua Goodin, 25, of Tampa, died from injuries sustained after his brother-in-law threw him from a third-floor balcony Wednesday. The charge against Goodin's brother-in-law, U.S Air Force Airman 1st Class William Donahue, 21, has been changed from attempted murder to second-degree murder. Goodin and Donahue, who lives at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, were staying at the Sea Stone Resort on S Gulfview Boulevard with family and friends. The two had several arguments throughout the day, according to Elizabeth Daly-Watts, Clearwater's public safety spokeswoman. Donahue threw Goodin over the railing of a third-floor breezeway about 4:10 a.m., Daly-Watts said. Goodin landed on concrete and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Student dies after swim at beach
A 19-year-old college student died over the weekend after being pulled from the Gulf of Mexico, authorities said. Daniel Mundy, of Gray, Ga., was flown to a hospital Saturday, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy is planned. Terry Morris, a district ranger at Gulf Islands National Seashore, noted there were no rip currents and the water was relatively flat at the time. He said Mundy, who attended Pensacola Christian College, was wading in waist-deep water when he suddenly yelled for help and collapsed. "One of his friends saw his eyes roll back in his head and saw him fall backward," Morris said.

Actor Buscemi settles lawsuit
Actor Steve Buscemi, known for films such as Fargo and Con Air, has settled a lawsuit against a Fort Lauderdale film distributor, lawyers said Sunday. Michael Broder, of Small Planet Pictures, will have to turn over the rights to the film Rockets Redglare!a documentary on the life of actor Michael Morra and pay $35,000 in legal fees. If he fails to pay within five years, he will have to pay $1.75-million. Buscemi co-produced the movie with the late director Luis de la Regura and sued Broder for failing to promote the film about Morra, who died in 2001 from complications brought on by drug abuse.
