Brian R. Tillesen was recently promoted to the rank of first lieutenant in the U.S. Army infantry while attending annual training at Camp Blanding in Starke. He is assigned to a Florida National Guard unit based in Cocoa.

He is the son of Scott and Garnet Tillesen of Palm Harbor.

Tillesen is a 2001 graduate of East Lake High School and the University of Central Florida, where he participated in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Following graduation, he received advanced training at the Army infantry training school at Fort Benning, Ga.

Navy Seaman Travondas L. Carr has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Carr completed a variety of training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

He also took part in "Battle Stations," an exercise that gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet.

Carr is the son of Janet L. Paar Peterson and Richard W. Peterson of Clearwater.

He is a 2007 graduate of Clearwater High School.

Air Force Airman Robert V. Fiermonte has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

During six weeks of training, Fiermonte studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Robert Fiermonte Sr. of Palm Harbor and is a 2005 graduate of East Lake High School.

Air Force Airman Kristine Rodriguez graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

During six weeks of training, Rodriguez studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

She is the daughter of Sylvia Ruiz-Torres and stepdaughter of Jose Torres of Tarpon Springs.

Rodriguez is a 1997 graduate of Gateway High School in Kissimmee.

Air Force Airman Marcus J. Lembo graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

During six weeks of training, Lembo studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Janice Lembo of Largo.
