Bomb in Iraq kills soldier from Bunnell

BUNNELL - A soldier died from wounds suffered when a bomb detonated near his unit in Iraq, military officials said Monday. Sgt. John Mele, 25, of Bunnell, in northeast Florida, died Friday in Arab Jabour, said the Department of Defense. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, of Fort Stewart, Ga. Mele's family could not be reached on Monday evening.
