Pinellas jail gets first woman boss

Alexis M. Davis lived the first 28 years of her life without setting foot in a jail. Twenty-five years later, she's becoming the first woman in Pinellas County to lead one. Sheriff Jim Coats will promote Davis from captain to major Sept. 28, overseeing the county's Detention and Corrections Bureau. She replaces the retiring 29-year veteran Maj. Kirk P. Brunner.
