Speak your piece WHEN board meets Tuesday

The Pinellas County School Board will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the district administration building, 301 Fourth St. SW, Largo. Anyone wishing to speak on agenda or other items may do so by filling out a form at or before the meeting. Residents may speak about any item on the agenda not involving a hearing on employee discipline by registering five minutes before the item is introduced. The meeting will be televised at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays for two weeks after the meeting. Broadcasts are shown on WPDS-Ch. 14, which also appears on Knology Ch. 14 and Bright House Networks Ch. 14.

Proposed assignment plan will be explained

Community meetings with Pinellas County Schools' administrators are scheduled for Sept. 26 at Pinellas Park High, 6305 118th Ave. N, Largo, 6:30-8:30 p.m. and for Sept. 27 at John Hopkins Middle, 701 16th St. S, St. Petersburg, also from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The School Board is set to vote on a student assignment plan Nov. 13. District administrators will explain the draft of the proposed plan, answer questions and get comments from the community.e_SClBst. petersburg

Students share visions of peace

The Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg invites K-12 students to participate in the Pieces for Peace, a community outreach art project designed to allow students to illustrate their vision of peace. Participants will receive 28 puzzle pieces that when assembled form an oversized panel. In the past, the project has included a melding of world flags, a dove, poetry and personal thoughts.
