Rushe school dedication set for friday

LAND O'LAKES
The dedication of Charles S. Rushe Middle School will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the school, 18654 Mentmore Blvd., Land O' Lakes. The event will feature student presentations, performances by the school band and chorus, a ribbon cutting ceremony and a special presentation to the family of Charles S. Rushe by the school's principal, Dave Estabrook. The public is invited to attend. For information, call (813) 346-1600.
Benefit concert planned at Groves
Artists for Humanity will provide an evening of entertainment featuring the music of Phantom of the Opera composer Andrew Lloyd Webber at the Groves at 8 p.m. Sunday, in the ballroom located at 7924 Melogold Circle in Land O'Lakes. The group is composed of nine professional musicians who perform for charity, seven of whom perform with the Tampa Opera Company. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Hernando-Pasco Hospice. Give blood, get a free movie ticket
Monday Movie Madness provides free movie tickets to blood donors on Monday or Oct. 1 at the following locations: 7214 State Road 52, Hudson from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. both dates and at 5319 Village Drive, State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. both dates. Safety program offered Oct. 6
The Knights of Columbus Chapter 6476, 2040 Grand Blvd. in Holiday offers a safety program from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6. The safety computer ID system is managed by Jon Consoli of Sergeant Safety Child Safety Program of Spring Hill. Materials include fingerprints, photo, two wallet IDs and voice recordings. What a shame that we dedicate a middle school to a Medal of Honor recipient and then some guy named Chuck. Where's the justice? Where's OUR honor for SFC Paul Smith?
