Learn about special phones for impaired

HUDSON A representative of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services will present a program on Florida Telecommunications Relay phones at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road. This is a statewide nonprofit organization that administers the Specialized Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program for Floridians who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf and blind, or speech-impaired. Qualifying residents can obtain free VCO, HCO, or TTY/TTD phones. VCO phones allow severely hard-of-hearing users to speak for themselves. A representative of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services will teach computer classes from 6 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday, Oct. 4 through Nov. 8. The first class covers basic computer skills for the deaf and hard of hearing who do not use sign language. The second class covers basic computer skills for the deaf and hard of hearing who use sign language. DADE CITY Alzheimer's groups offer two meetings The Alzheimer's Family Organization offers two support groups this week.
