Jefferson senior defensive end Max Holloway committed to Boston College, saying "it felt like the right fit." Holloway was offered by Syracuse, Cincinnati and Stanford, where his father Brian was an All-American in 1981.
Hawk out of hospital
Armwood junior linebacker Jamiel "Petey" Smith was released around midnight Thursday from a local hospital, two days after being admitted for a bladder infection. Smith said he won't play tonight against Newsome but plans to return to practice Tuesday and be ready for the showdown with Jefferson on Sept. 28.
Moses who?
Moses McCray was a dominating defensive end at Middleton last fall. Now he's a terror at Hillsborough, which hosts the Tigers tonight. But if you think talk at Middleton this week has centered around McCray, you're wrong. "We haven't thought about him," Tigers coach Harry Hubbard said. "We're just concentrating on winning the game."

Grossi plans visit
Jefferson senior Zack Grossi set up an official visit to Colorado State, his "No. 1 choice," in October. Grossi, one of the region's top QBs, said the Rams are awaiting more game film on him before making a scholarship offer.
