Matchup The skinny Our pick Newsome (3-0) at Armwood (3-0) In a combined six games, these teams have allowed a grand total of 32 points. Wolves have won nine straight. Armwood Middleton (2-1) at Hillsborough (3-0) Terriers defense has pitched back-to-back shutouts. That could mean trouble for the Tigers, scoring just 12.6 points a game. Hillsborough Riverview (1-1) at Plant (2-1) Sharks' athletic defense has the ability to keep it close. But only if it can pressure Panthers QB Aaron Murray (eight TD passes the past two weeks). Plant East Bay (1-2) at Brandon (1-2) East Bay is a few plays from being 3-0 and could want revenge from last year's loss to Brandon, which dashed playoff hopes. East Bay Wharton (2-1) at Sickles (2-1) Sickles had more punts (seven) than yards (6) last week. It won't get any easier against the Wharton defense. Wharton Chamberlain (1-2) at Blake (0-3) Both teams have had trouble finding the end zone. Blake has 22 points this season, and Chamberlain has seven in its past two games. Chamberlain Jefferson (1-1) at Gaither (1-2) Cowboys RB Jarvis Giles is on pace for a 1,500-yard season. Dragons LB Gorby Loreus, back from a hamstring injury, should have plenty to say about that. Jefferson Durant (1-2) at King (1-2) Lions playing without three starters - and suspended first-year coach Earl Garcia III. Can assistant Alex Gonzalez rally the troops? Durant Alonso (2-1) at Leto (1-2) As Alonso found out in last week's win, if it can get the offense clicking, the defense can make the Ravens tough to top. Alonso Freedom (0-2) at TBT (3-0) TBT defense held its opponent to 6 total yards last week. And Freedom is still looking for the first victory of the Marquel Blackwell era. TBT Jesuit (2-1) at Robinson (0-3) Jesuit got out of its offensive funk just in time for the district opener. It will need to score against Robinson QB Justin Le (267 yards, three TDs last week). Jesuit Bloomingdale (1-2) at Plant City (2-1) The Bulls forced eight turnovers last week. The Raiders should be aided by the return of RB Sirchauncey Holloway, who had been out with an ankle injury. Plant City Lake Placid (2-1) at Tampa Catholic (2-1) Lake Placid's previous opponents are 2-6. TC's are 6-3. TC has another edge. Its defense allows seven points a game. TC Bradenton Prep (1-2) atCambridge (2-1) Cambridge RB Taylor Cabral averages 9.54 yards a carry. He has six TDs - the same amount his team has allowed in four games. Cambridge SPC (0-3) atLennard (0-3) A good chance for the Longhorns to win the program's first game? Looks that way. SPC's defense has been torched for 37, 48 and 33 points. Lennard Palmetto (3-0) at Spoto (2-1) Spoto has fared well for a first-year program. But extending its winning streak to three won't be easy. Palmetto hasn't allowed a point in September.
