Alex Milan did it again.
For the third time this season, the Sickles freshman broke par. But it didn't lead to a win for her team Thursday. Instead, Sickles and Freedom finished in a tie at 175 at Heritage Harbor because efforts to complete a playoff were cut short by inclement weather.
Milan shot 1-under 35.
Her card included two birdies. Remarkably, she has not broken 40 only once in eight matches. On that day, she shot 40.
Freedom was led by Alexis Camara, who shot 41.
Amanda Bair of Sickles and Margaux Camara of Freedom each shot 43.
Boys golf
- Tampa Prep 136, Tampa Catholic 140 (seven holes)
At Westchase, the Terrapins defeated the Crusaders in a rain-shortened match behind the play of junior Jon Wyble, who was 4 over when play was halted.
Sophomore Alex Cardoso finished at 5 over.
Tampa Prep is 2-5.
TC falls to 5-7.
Volleyball
To say things went well for Durant is an understatement.
The Cougars not only won, but because the victory over East Bay was so convincing (25-7, 25-3, 25-8), everyone on the team was able to contribute.
Outside hitter Caitlyn Still (seven kills, six digs), outside hitter Lindi Oest (nine digs, four kills, four aces) and setter Alexa Donini (20 assists) were among Durant's top performers.
The Cougars are 6-1.
"This was probably the most united match we've had," Durant coach Dawn Hough said. "The entire team got to play, and everyone kept the ball in the court. It was a positive match."
Swimming
- Boys: Sickles 120, Alonso 60
- Girls: Sickles 117, Alonso 63
The girls 200-yard medley relay squad (Carrie Foster, Katie Cook, Katie Westbrook and Veronica Case) posted a school-record time of 1:57.93 to lead Sickles past Alonso. Case set a school mark in the 100 butterfly by finishing in 1:00.20.
The boys squad won by a convincing margin.
Both squads are 5-0.
