Sickles 21, Wharton 14

TAMPA - Wharton quarterback Andrew Clifford's pass into the end zone sailed incomplete on the game's final play as Sickles held on for a victory. Clifford marched the Wildcats from their own 15-yard line to the Gryphons' 9 in the final 40 seconds, highlighted by a 48-yard pass to Dominique White. Aided by a pass interference call on Sickles that negated a Scott O'Donaghue interception in the end zone on what appeared to be the final play, Wharton got one more play. But Clifford's pass into the middle of the end zone fell incomplete. Sickles (3-1) led the entire way. Quarterback Cullen O'Brien connected with wide receiver A.J. Bose for scoring passes of 23 and 15 yards, and running back Josh Mendez rushed for 116 yards and one score on 29 carries. Marquis Thomas led Wharton (2-2) with 123 yards and a touchdown on 19 rushes.
