Why do some of the standard state license plates have a county name and others do not?

- Ray Smith

All 67 Florida counties give vehicle owners a choice for a standardized plate - they can get one with the county name, or if they don't want the county name they can get one that says "The Sunshine State."

If you don't like those choices, you can pay for a personalized plate with up to 7 characters plus a space or hyphen, or one of Florida's 100-plus specialty plates.
