Political meeting: The West Pasco Democratic Club of Pasco County will meet at noon Saturday. Alison Morano, chair of the Pasco Democratic Executive Committee, will speak about state issues and the 2008 general election. Candidates for the 2008 elections are expected. A business meeting will follow the speakers. Open to the public. Refreshments will be served. New book club: 2 p.m. Oct. 11. Members will help choose selections for upcoming meetings. The first discussion will be on A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. The group will meet in the South Holiday Library, 4649 Mile Stretch Drive.
Educators meet: The Retired Educators of West Pasco will meet in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, 6561 Circle Drive, New Port Richey, at noon Thursday. Lunch will be served before the meeting. For reservations, call Glenn Kelm (727)842-9184.
Multiple sclerosis benefit: Join American Legion Post 335, 11421 Osceola Drive, New Port Richey at 5 p.m. Oct. 6 to raise funds for two dedicated bicyclists who will ride in the MS Ride from Busch Gardens in Tampa to Orlando. Boy Scouts breakfast: American Legion Paradise Post 79 at Legion Place and Veterans Drive in New Port Richey is hosting an all you can eat pancake breakfast to benefit Boy Scout Troop 24 from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday. Donation for this full breakfast menu is $3.50. Children younger than 6 costs $2.50. Proceeds will be used for equipment, books and camping expenses.
