Clearwater Jazz Holiday needs help

The 28th annual MarineMax Clearwater Jazz Holiday is looking for hundreds of volunteers to help with every aspect of the four-day, free music event scheduled for Oct. 18-21 at Coachman Park.
Among other things, volunteers can sell merchandise, pour beer and wine, distribute soft drinks and water and check IDs. If you have carpentry, electrical, plumbing or handyman skills, your help is needed to build and tear down the event infrastructure.

Cancer campwants survivors
Applications to attend Camp Living Springs, a three-day camp for cancer survivors age 18 and older, will be accepted until Sept. 30.
The camp is scheduled for Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and 2 in Ellenton. Transportation, food and accommodations at the camp are free.
The annual program is staffed and funded by the volunteer organization, Morton Plant Caring Partners, for Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.

School launches effort to expand campus
The Pinellas County Jewish Day School has launched a capital campaign to buy and renovate property and buildings immediately next to is campus on Cambridge Avenue in Largo.
The purchase will add 11 new classrooms and a new auditorium.
The school, which has 205 students, has grown at a steady 5 percent per year over the past six years and has outgrown its existing facilities.

Seminar has advice on marketing plans
Take a little time to consider your marketing plan. The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce is offering "Strategic Marketing Planning for Your Business" from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 4052 Tampa Road. Tom Stauffer, the president and CEO of A&T Resources, a company that specializes in corporate identity, will lead the seminar. The course is especially geared for managers of businesses just starting up. In advance, the cost including breakfast and handouts is $15 for chamber members, $25 for nonmembers. Friends of Libraryseeking donations
CLEARWATER - The Friends of the Library Book & Gift Store in Clearwater's Main Library is seeking donations of paperback books in good condition for resale in the store. Bring them to the Main Library or call Judy Bazata at 461-6272 if pickup is needed.
Proceeds from the bookstores enhance the Clearwater Public Library system.
The store also needs volunteers to work certain days and hours. A short training session is required. The Friends Book & Gift Store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Work hours are variable, generally two hours a week. Hearing-impaired program expanded
The Deaf and Hearing Connection for Tampa Bay has expanded its no-cost telephone loan services, which include amplified telephone and equipment usage, at the following locations: Largo Library, Clearwater Library, Palm Harbor Library, Dunedin Senior Center, Safety Harbor Library, the Upper Tampa Bay Library, St. Petersburg Sunshine Center, Gulfport Senior Center and the Gulf Beaches Library.
