Co-founder of Apple computer to speak at SPC

CLEARWATER

Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak will speak at the "Taking the Next Step" Business and Education Summit at 8:30 a.m. Thursdayat the St. Petersburg College EpiCenter in Clearwater. The summit is hosted by WorkNet Pinellas as an effort to try to bring the education and business communities together to promote partnerships. The event is free and open to business owners and executives. Besides Wozniak, other panelists will include St. Petersburg College president Carl Kuttler, Pinellas County school superintendent Clayton Wilcox, University of South Florida St. Petersburg regional chancellor Karen White and Eckerd College president Donald Eastman. Among other things, the panelists are expected to discuss how the education system in Pinellas County is addressing the demands of business. Check out voting system vendors

Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark is hosting an open house to view demonstrations by four voting system vendors today. Pinellas County will need to purchase a new voting system because House Bill 537 requires all Florida counties to use optical scan voting systems with paper ballots for all elections effective July 2008. Vendors will make continuous presentations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Election Service Center, 13001 Starkey Road in Largo. Sponge diver talks about his passion
