Part of Largo's history? Tell us your story
By JOE CHILDS, Largo Times Managing Editor

George Feaster remembers a time when Largo had just two grocery stores. It was a half century ago. Feaster moved here from New Jersey in 1956, eager to get into the funeral business. He did that - and much more. Feaster helped put Largo on the map. He started his funeral home, then expanded the business as Largo grew around him. He was in a group that opened a local bank. He was president of the Largo Chamber of Commerce. He helped raise money to build the Cultural Center and the Library. Sunday, he will share his memories of Largo long ago in the first edition of our improved Largo Times. To enhance our community coverage we are gathering oral histories from people in Largo. George Feaster is first. You can read his recollections and see old photos. You also will be able to go to our Web site, tampabay.com, and listen to Feaster, and see even more photos. We are bringing changes like this to the Largo Times because we want to strike a better balance of hard news and Largo-specific community content. Starting next week, the Largo Times will change to a tabloid-sized section and will be in the paper on Sundays and on Wednesdays. We are delighted George Feaster is starting our oral history series, which we are calling "Share your story."
