He would have been better off paying at pump

Pasco Sheriff's deputies accused a 33-year-old Wesley Chapel man Tuesday of stealing more than 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a construction site. Deputies said surveillance cameras captured Ariel Gonzalez-Aguilar siphoning fuel into a large gas tank hidden under a green topper in the bed of his 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck the night of Sept. 9. The construction site was on 20 Mile Level Road in Lutz. Gonzalez-Aguilar was being held at the Land O'Lakes Jail on Wednesday on charges of trespassing and grand theft. He bail was set at $40,000.

FHP releases name of driver who died
The Florida Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who was killed Tuesday morning in a single-car accident on U.S. 301 near Carringer Road, north of Dade City. Jesus Martinez-Cruz, 27, of Dade City, drove into a utility pole around 2 a.m. His car rolled over and Martinez-Cruz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. He died at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol did not release the name until troopers located his family in Mexico and Colorado.

PHCC adds two nursing courses
The fall schedule at Pasco Hernando Community College is expanding with the addition of two nursing assistant courses. A course called Nursing Assistant will start Nov. 1 and end Nov. 16, with classes running8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Another course, Nursing Assistant Clinical, will begin Nov. 19 and run through Nov. 27, with classes 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays. Courses in the nursing assistant program help students pass an exam to become certified nursing assistants. Students can register online at www.phcc.edu or call 1-877-TRY-PHCC.
Beat flu season by getting vaccinated
With flu season a few months away, the Pasco County Health Department is kicking off Adult Immunization Week. From now until Saturday, county health officials are encouraging adults to get vaccinated. Key vaccines include a tetanus shot, $32; a flu shot, $25; and a pneumonia vaccine, $45. Those who would like to be vaccinated can make an appointment with the Health Department by calling (727) 861-5260.
Correction
The annual budget next year for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office will increase $2.6-million over this year's amount. Because of incomplete information given by county officials, a different amount was reported in Monday and Tuesday's editions of the Pasco Times.
