LB Pauliot to playon injured knee
When senior linebacker Nick Pauliot tore his meniscus in a season-opening loss to Central, the Hernando coaching staff expected to be without its star for more than a month. But Pauliot was in a few plays last week and plans to play the rest of the season on the injured knee.
Although coach Rodney Byrd said the linebacker is only 70 percent, Pauliot has been cleared by a doctor and will put off surgery until after the season.
"He's tough," Byrd said. "His motor never stops. He has the desire."
Sunlake coach still building
In Hernando County, Bill Browning is something of an architect. He inherited a Springstead program that had won20 of its previous 90 games and built it into a formidable program. Then he spent eight years bringing Hernando back after the death of coach Mike Imhoff.
So you shouldn't be surprised to learn Browning has enjoyed his first four games at Sunlake High in Pasco County, despite an 0-3 record.
"I've always been one who likes a challenge," said Browning, whose Seahawks have scored just seven points this season. "This is just a little bit of a different challenge."
Central could bein for a nice break
