Delhomme still holding out hope

TAMPA - Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme, who is off to a blistering start with eight touchdowns and one interception, won't concede to sitting out Sunday's matchup with the Bucs in Charlotte. Delhomme, who is 7-1 against the Bucs, isn't giving up despite a right elbow injury that has prevented him from practicing this week. "I'm still holding out hope," he told the media in Charlotte. "A couple of years ago when I broke my thumb, I didn't take a snap or throw until Saturday morning. So we'll see. ... I am feeling better. I am gripping the ball. It feels pretty good." Delhomme made the statement despite being downgraded to doubtful on Friday, meaning he has just a 25 percent chance of playing, according to injury-reporting guidelines. For the Bucs, four players, including three starters, are listed as questionable: receiver Ike Hilliard (ankle), cornerback Brian Kelly (groin), defensive end Greg Spires (ankle) and defensive end Patrick Chukwurah (knee).
