CLEARWATER - The blackoutis over. After a week without power, residents from Southern Comfort mobile home park can restock their fridges, turn on the air-conditioning and flip on the lights. On Thursday night, power was restored to 10 of the 12 affected mobile homes after a county inspector approved the work done on the park's underground lines. Electricians were still working to restore power to the remaining two homes when the inspector was at the park Thursday, said the park's general manager Luther Moore. The work was completed by Friday and the remaining two homes were powered by lunch time. On Friday afternoon, workers were filling up the ditches they dug to reach the old, burned, underground power lines that had to be replaced when they fizzled on Sept. 20. Many residents had to toss out spoiled food. Some remained at the park, eating peanut butter or going to restaurants. Others bunked with friends or family or stayed at a motel. Moore said this was the first such power outage in the six years since the 40-year-old park came under new ownership. Moore said he doesn't have the equipment to test power lines running to other areas in the park. "If they break," he said, "I'll fix them."
