Nero and his sister, Niki, shepherd and dachshund mixed siblings, are among the more than 40 puppies and dogs for adoption at the SPCA Tampa Bay in Largo. This weekend, the organization will offer half-price adoption fees on canines after more than 20 puppies arrived Friday from an overwhelmed shelter in Alabama. Walk-a-thon to support sickle cell

Sickle Cell Upper Pinellas Pasco will hold its annual walk-a-thon at 9 a.m. today at Philippe Park in Safety Harbor. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Contributions from the walk-a-thon will support counseling, screenings and research. Checks may be payable to SCDF Upper Pinellas Pasco Counties Inc. Library dedicates 1920s collection

The Clearwater main library will hold a formal dedication for the special collections area on the fourth floor at6 p.m. Monday, 100 N Osceola Ave. The area celebrates Clearwater in the 1920s.
