SEMINOLE - On homecoming evening for the Osceola Warriors, the energy was high inside Warrior Stadium as Seminole Warhawks were looking for an upset against their neighborhood rival, and their first win this season.
It was quickly apparent, though, that the Warhawks were in for a tough night.
Needing less than two minutes to score, the powerful Osceola offense capped off their first drive with a 10-yard touchdown run by running back Edwin McKinney, who finished the night with 105 yards on 6 carries.
The rest of the first quarter belonged to the Warriors, who scored three more touchdowns, two by Cameron Cabarris. The junior tailback picked up 133 yards on 7 attempts, including touchdown runs of 38 yards and 36 yards.
"This position is a new thing for me. I worked hard over the offseason and now it's starting to come together," said Cabarris.
The Seminole offense wasn't able able to put points on the board until the final quarter when running back DJ Helm scored on a 19-yard run.
The Warriors defense limited both Seminole quarterbacks to 5 complete passes on 13 attempts.
"The first half we were really clicking," said Osceola coach George Palmer. "I'm very proud of the team. Defensively, we had a lot of hats around the ball and we were really hitting.
"Offensively, the line was coming off together, the backs were blocking well, and Cameron Cabarris really stepped up for us tonight. We played about as well as we could have hoped to play."
