NEW PORT RICHEY - One week after setting school records for rushing yards and touchdowns in a game, Ridgewood's Byronell Arline did it again. Behind his 343 yards and seven touchdowns, the Rams pulled out a hard-fought victory at Des Little Stadium.
Tied 21-all at the half, the Rams (4-0) turned Arline loose in the second half and Gulf (2-3) never figured out how to stop him. The senior back scored four times in the second half, including a touchdown on three straight carries in the third and fourth quarters.
After Gulf's David Williams (41 carries, 268 yards, four TDs) scored to give Gulf a 28-21 lead, Arline tied it on a 17-yard run to cap a short drive. After a Buc fumble, Arline rumbled 47 yards the next play to make it 35-28. And following a Gulf punt, Arline sprinted 50 yards for another score to put the Bucs away.
"He took it to another level there in the second half, didn't he," Gulf coach Jay Fulmer said.
Arline had 15 carries, 218 yards and four scores in the second half.
