We need your news! High Fives The Runaway Alternatives Project (RAP) hosted a tour of the RAP House Shelter on Plathe Road in New Port Richey on August. Angel Cook spoke to more than 100 managers, assistant managers and members of the Publix United Way of Pasco Employee Team about how the project helped her survive emotional and physical abuse. The visit was a prelude to the Pasco kickoff on Sept. 1 of the Annual United Way Campaign. RAP House is only one of the many Pasco County services funded by United Way. In 2006, Publix managers, associates and employees raised $33-million over five states including Florida. About $14-million of that amount was from payroll deductions that were matched dollar for dollar by Publix Super Markets Charities. * * * Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Recognition program is a new award given by the American Heart Association Start! Movement. It recognizes companies that make the health and wellness of employees a priority.
