29th Annual Pasco Sheriff's Golf Classic: Scheduled for 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29. Lake Jovita's North and South Courses. Entry fee deadline is Oct. 22 and is $150 per person or $600 per foursome. Proceeds support Pasco Police Athletic League, Youth Services Program, Explorers Post, Safety Town, DARE anti-drug program and Gang Resistance training. VFW post events: Post 7345, 6315 Stone Road, Port Richey, (727) 847-6277, has the following events for October:

-Every Monday through Friday, Lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Donations vary.

-Every Wednesday, Dinner at 4:30 p.m. Music by Mike from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

-Every Thursday, Dinner at 6 p.m. Donation: $5 with Mr. Lucky Jazz Band from 7 to 10 p.m.

-Every Friday, fish fry and specials, 4 to 6 p.m. Donation: $6-$7 with Music by Sharon 6-9 p.m.

Child safety registration: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6. The Knights of Columbus Chapter 6476 at 2040 Grand Blvd. in Holidays is offering this computer ID system managed by Jon Sonsoli of Sergeant Safety Child Safety Program of Spring Hill. Materials include fingerprints, photo, two wallet IDs and voice recordings. Cost is $20 for the first child in the family and $15 for the others. Tutors available: The New Port Richey Library, 5939 Main Street, New Port Richey has tutors available under their program, Reading for Life. The program is for students looking for help with reading, writing and English as a second language. Call Ann for details (727) 853-1265.
