What's hot: Last week produced some of the best tarpon fishing recently. A late-season push of giant herring invaded our coastline. Hundreds of tarpon have settled along the beaches before migrating south for the winter. They will often move a few miles up and down the coastline each day, following one of their favorite food sources. Giant schools of small minnows have made their way to the shore, luring in these fighters. You will often see the tarpon jumping out of the water as they feed.
Tactics: Once you find the tarpon, simply throw out a few free-lined baits and drift through the rolling fish. They are quite aggressive during this fall period, eating most any live bait presented. Pinfish and threadfin herring have been our favorite choices.
