Brooksville founders week

The 151st Brooksville Founders' Week Celebration will be Oct. 13-20 in downtown Brooksville.
The celebration, sponsored by the Brooksville Business Alliance, will include programs and events:
- Hernando County Rodeo and Barbecue Festival, 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 12 and 13, 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 14, Hernando County Airport. Details online at www.hernandocattlemen.com/festivalindex.htm.
- Bandshell Bash and Brooksville Cruise-In, 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13, at Hernando Park, 205 E Fort Dade Ave. In conjunction with the events, a Taste of Brooksville is from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 796-3734.
- Victorian Tea, noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 15-19, Brooksville Woman's Club, 131 S Main St. Tickets are $5. The menu includes tea, scones with jams and clotted cream, finger sandwiches and petit fours. Call 848-7988 or 584-0479.
- Victorian Flower Arrangements by the Brooksville Garden Club, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 15-19, at the City Hall Art Gallery, 201 Howell Ave.
- Heritage Museumtours, noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 16-19, 601 Museum Court. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children. Call 799-0129.

- City Hall Art Gallery Reception, 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17, City Hall, 201 Howell Ave. The event will include the Great Brooksvillian ceremony and birthday cake. Call 544-5407.
- Family Fireside Storytelling and Open Mic Night, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 18, U.U. in the Pines Retreat Center, 7029 Cedar Lane, east of Brooksville. Cost is $5; children under 10 free. Bring instruments. Call 754-9107 or 799-3147.

- Brooksville Blazin' Butts-n-Brisket Barbecue Contest, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 20, Tom Varn Park, 301 Darby Lane. Call 544-5435.
- Roger Landers Historical Recital, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 20, Rising Sun Cafe, 10 S Main St. There will be a cane weaving demonstration, clowns and birthday cake. Call 799-9330.
