Hernando County Property Appraiser Alvin Mazourek announced Tuesday that he will seek a fourth term in 2008. Mazourek, a Republican who was first elected in 1996, noted that his office was cited this year by the Florida Department of Revenue for its efficiency and the accuracy of its assessments. Among his accomplishments during the past three terms, he listed improved appraisal and mapping systems, a full-service office on the west side of the county, a centralized addressing system and an improved Web site. "Mr. Mazourek would like the opportunity to continue serving and working in the field that he has made a lifetime commitment to," his announcement said. So far, Mazourek is the only announced candidate.
Beware of hunters during season
Trails in the Withlacoochee State Forest will remain open during all phases of the various hunting seasons, which continue through Jan. 6. All trail users are urged to avoid use during the first two weeks of the muzzle-loading and general gun seasons, which start Oct. 13 and Oct. 27 respectively. Trail users are also advised to wear fluorescent orange-colored clothing to be more visible. For information, call the Withlacoochee Forestry Center at 754-6896.

It would be wise to stay out of the woods when we are out there hunting.I have had morons travel the trails yelling and making loud noises to spook the deer. One time I left my stand to kick some butt but it was girls. They were fortunate for that!
