Workshop to promote alternative growth

SPRING HILL
As part of the "Reality Check" workshops to create alternative growth scenarios for the Tampa Bay region, the One Bay partnership will host a workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane.
Participants will use materials such as Legos, ribbons and county maps to make decisions about where and how the county should grow.
The tabletop exercise, designed by the Urban Land Institute, educates participants about the interrelationship among regional land use, transportation systems and natural resources.

The One Bay initiative is a partnership of the Urban Land Institute, Tampa Bay Partnership Regional Research and Education Foundation Vision21, Southwest Florida Water Management District, Tampa Bay Estuary Program and Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council. For information, call (813) 872-2811.

Aripeka Elks unveil 2007-08 dinner shows
Aripeka Elks Lodge 2520 is taking reservations and selling season tickets for its 2007-08 dinner shows.
Season tickets for prime seats are $156, and tickets for general seating are $144; individual dinner show tickets are $28 for prime seating and $26 for general seating. All prices include tax.
All dinner shows will include dinner at 6 p.m. and showtime at 7:30 p.m. at the lodge, 9135 Denton Ave.
Shows include:
- Oct. 13, Mark Ralston Show. Ralston is a singer, impressionist and voice-over artist who performs as artists such as Neil Diamond, Ray Charles and Elvis Presley. His show features about 25 costume changes.
- Nov. 10, a Tribute to Harry James and the Andrews Sisters, featuring Charley Raymond. Raymond and his band perform the music of Harry James, and will be joined by the Apple Blossoms, three female vocalists performing the music of the Andrews Sisters.
- Dec. 8, A Tribute to Liberace. Martin Preston brings the legend to life, and will be joined by William Garon.
- Jan. 12, Red Hot Jubilee Jam, a musical variety show featuring tributes to Willie Nelson, Elvis, Judy Garland, Lucille Ball and New York City.
- Feb. 9, "Brit Wit" Jimmy Keys. The British comedian has a style described as a cross between Robin Williams and Elton John.
