Sunlake High dedication ceremony will be at 9 a.m. today in the school stadium, 3023 Sunlake Blvd., Land O'Lakes. There will be student and administrative presentations, performances by the school band and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
-The district School Board presents "Step It Up and Step Out; Empowering Girls to Achieve Their Full Potential" at 6 p.m. today at Land O'Lakes High, 20325 Gator Lane. Parents of middle and high school girls and their daughters are invited to attend this free presentation that is part of the "Year of the Girl," a districtwide emphasis on the challenges and social issues facing female students. Guest speaker Kaye Randall, LISW-CP, co-author of Mean Girls: 101 Strategies for Working with Relational Aggression, will provide information and strategies regarding relational aggression, girl gossip, rumors and cyber bullying. e_SBlt Pasco-Hernando Community College hosts two College Nights, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the New Port Richey campus, 10230 Ridge Road, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Dade City campus, 36727 Blanton Road. Representatives from PHCC, plus public and private colleges and universities, other educational institutions and the military will offer information about admissions, financial aid and programs for post-secondary education. The event is free and open to the public.

St. Anthony Catholic School in San Antonio earned a Top 50 score for the sixth-grade News Bowl News Achievement Test Contest. The sixth-grade division of the NAT contest had 271 participating teams with St. Anthony Catholic ranked as 35th in the nation. St. Anthony team members wereJohn Cummings, Adam Gendreau and Aurora Ireland.
