The Comets team at Hudson Middle School is organizing an Operation Shoebox to support troops overseas.
In the past, the group has raised enough money and collected enough supplies to send more than 40 boxes to soldiers in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Qatar and South Korea.
Donations will be collected Oct. 22 to Nov. 14. Items needed include cotton swabs, snacks, sunscreen, lip balm, beef jerky, small holiday decorations, pens, writing paper, envelopes, eye drops, travel-size toiletries, waterless hand sanitizer, baby wipes, puzzle books, foot powder, insole cushions, icy patches, unscented hand or body lotion, and travel games.
To place a collection box in your business or to make donations earlier, call Judy Patriarca or Chris Solon at (727) 774-8200. Donations also may be dropped off at the school. Money donations should be mailed to Hudson Middle School, 14540 Cobra Way, Hudson, FL 34669.
