ST. PETERSBURG

The family of Steven Cornell, the 22-year-old killed last week by a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 275, has set up a fund to pay for medical expenses. Cornell did not have medical insurance to cover his treatment before he died. His sister, Mary Cornell, was driving the car. She has been released from the hospital and is recovering, but also was not insured. Donations can be made to the Mary Elizabeth and Steven Cornell Fund at any Bank of America or mailed to Bank of America, 985 Pasadena Ave. S, South Pasadena, FL 33707. The other driver, Charles Hicks, 32, faces numerous charges, including vehicular homicide and aggravated assault. Police say Hicks drove his car at officers before driving the wrong way on the interstate early Sept. 26.
