Northside Christian golfers still rolling

Northside Christian avenged the only blemish on its regular-season record (10-0-1) with a 150-158 win at Saddlebrook on Tuesday. Ninth-graders Michelle Butler (33) and A.J. Newell (34) led the way in a match delayed about a half-hour due to weather.

IRC's Ryan Ashburn, coming off a low medalist performance Monday at the Mustang Invitational, shot 36 at Westchase to pace the field.
Volleyball
Lakewood d. Osceola
25-16, 25-14, 25-11
Coming off a second-place finish at the Hillsborough Community College tournament last weekend, Emily Bingham led the way with 11 kills and two aces against Osceola. Lakewood travels to Clearwater tonight at 7.
CCC d. Shorecrest
25-21, 25-23, 25-16
Mary Michael Toups had seven kills and coach Brian Imperiale said Charlotte Karaphillis "had a great game running the floor" with 18 assists as CCC cruised.
"We're really getting faster and spreading the ball to the outside quicker," Imperiale said. "And (Toups) has been getting better each day."
CCC's Mary Jane Jachens and Mackenzie Kenner each recorded five kills while Kim Newton led Shorecrest with seven kills and three blocks.
East Lake d. Tarpon Springs
25-9, 25-8, 25-10
On senior night, senior Bianca Bowan had a team-high seven aces and Sara Rex finished with 13 kills.
Boys Golf
In a match shortened to four holes due to lightning at Bellaire, St. Petersburg Catholic edged Clearwater Central Catholic. SPC's Matt Baylor had the low score at 15, followed by teammate Devin Hernandez (16) and CCC's Tyler Bailey (16).
Countryside 158, Northeast 182, Osceola 201
Tyley Wilkins, D.J. Guggi and Matt Arace each shot match-low 39s to pace Countryside at Bardmoor.

IRC's Liz Zeitler played what coach Mark Foster described as a phenomenal match, finishing with 19 digs and six kills.
"Her passing was great," Foster said. "She did everything well tonight."
The Eagles' Kenzie Reynolds recorded a match-high 14 kills and 17 digs while Jessica Jones added 18 digs. IRC (17-0) hosts Shorecrest at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
