Women's Soccer
After seven rigorous games on the road - two of which were against nationally ranked teams - the University of South Florida women's soccer team returns to the USF Soccer Stadium this Friday night to begin a four-game homestand.
The Bulls host Georgetown Friday at 7:30 p.m. for USF's second home game of the season, then will face off with Villanova, who received votes in the NSCAA poll this week, on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matchups this weekend are first-time meetings between the teams.
Sunday's Bulls vs. Wildcats game will be televised by Catch 47, the official cable partner of USF athletics, and can be seen on tape delay at 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. Fans can also catch all home games on the USF Press Pass. Live video and audio streaming is available for all matches played in the USF Soccer Stadium with Garrett Walvoord delivering the play-by-play call.
A Look At The Bulls
The USF women's soccer team enters the second half of the season just one victory shy of 100 program wins. Under the watch of head coach Denise Schilte-Brown, the Bulls (2-5-1, 1-2-0) beat Providence 1-0 in Rhode Island on Sept. 30 to pick up their first BIG EAST victory of the 2007 season. USF earned its first win on Sept. 9, a 3-2 win over in-state rival Miami in Coral Gables.
Senior Autumn Browning and junior Lindsay Brauer lead the Bulls with five points apiece as both ladies have scored two goals and made an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi has logged two shutouts this season and has posted a 1.47 goals against average. In late September, she allowed just one goal per game against nationally-ranked Marquette and Connecticut, teams that are averaging 1.82 and 2.67 goals per game, respectively.
About Georgetown
The Hoyas are 8-3-0 overall this season, which includes five consecutive wins over non-conference opponents in September. Georgetown has two conferences losses, to Villanova and Rutgers, in addition to its Sept. 28 win over Seton Hall.
GU has scored 21 goals this season, as four players have tallied three goals apiece. Ingrid Wells and Stephanie Zare each have nine points from a trio of goals and three assists while Sara Jordan and Sarah Fetters have eight and six points, respectively. Goalkeeper Jackie Desjardin has earned five shutouts in 11 games.
About Villanova
The Wildcats are unbeaten this season, posting a 7-0-4 record with a 1-0-2 conference clip. Villanova's lone conference win was a 1-0 victory over Georgetown, and its two ties are to Rutgers (0-0, 2ot) and Seton Hall (1-1, 2ot).
