'Mayor's Hour' show to focus on charities

The Mayor's Hour, a TV program focusing on local charities and volunteer opportunities, will air Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. on CTTV Channel 15.

The program will introduce the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club and Alpha House.

It also will feature a special project as part of the Centre for Women's Senior Home Improvement Program.

Replays will air Sundays at 1 p.m., Mondays at 7 p.m., Tuesdays at noon, Wednesdays at 9 p.m., Fridays at 3 p.m. and Saturdays at noon.

Latin group seeks itsnext queen and king

The Latin American Fiesta Association is conducting interviews for its 80th queen of Tampa.

Young women ages 14 to 27 are eligible to represent the historical organization, which was founded in 1927 to promote Latin culture and goodwill through international travel.

The women must be single with no children or marital history and must be willing to attend public appearances and parades. Being of Latin descent or speaking Spanish is not required.

The association also seeks an adult king, age 25 or older.

Garden club to host program onground covers

The Tampa Garden Club will hold a master gardener program Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Martin D'Abreau, director of Hillsborough Extension Services, will present a lesson on ground covers.
