Now you really can look inside walls and around corners. The SeeSnake from Ridgid is a battery-powered micro-inspection camera on a 3-foot flexible vinyl cable. It sends images to a 2.4-inch color LCD screen that sits atop the tool's handle. See into crawl spaces, inside engines, within ductwork. It comes with three attachments: hook, magnetic and mirror tips to make seeing and picking up easy. See it at www.ridgid.com/seesnakemicro. The tool is $239, available starting this month at Home Depot stores.

Post this number right up there with the pediatrician and Poison Control: It's the Crayola crayons consumer center, toll-free 1-800-272-9652. Here's the Web site too: www.crayola.com. Call or click for help when crayon disaster strikes: when crayons get ground into the carpet, or when someone draws on a chalkboard with them; and dozens of other potential disasters. (You'll find that WD-40 car lubricant plays a major role in many of the remedies.) There are tips here for lots of other Crayola products besides crayons.

It looks good, it does good

Is a bright red fire extinguisher a little too industrial for you? HomeHero has redesigned this necessary piece of household equipment to look so sleek, the designers hope you'll want to keep it out on the counter. It has a grip-and-trigger system so you can operate it with one hand, and the instructions are on the back where you can see them while you use the extinguisher. It stands 16 inches tall and comes only in white and is priced at $24.97 at Home Depot. Fire Prevention Week starts Sunday. Enough said.
