Bishop Verot 30, Lennard 20

FORT MYERS - One good half was enough for Bishop Verot to overcome a lackluster effort in the early going and a novice Lennard program that was tougher than expected. The Vikings erased a 13-0 deficit with 30 consecutive points. Behind a Texas-sized offensive line, old-fashioned Wing-T offense and gritty but undersized junior quarterback Andrew Burdick, the Longhorns (0-6, 0-1), a first-year varsity team, went up 13-0 on a pair of ball-hogging touchdown drives. Verot pulled within 13-9 at halftime on Butch Moore's 32-yard field and 15-yard pass to Garrett Redden after a pooch kick ended up in the Vikings' hands. In the second half, Verot erased a huge imbalance in time of possession after Lennard went 8-for-11 on third-down conversions and 3-for-3 on fourth-down in the first half. Bishop Verot 30 Lennard 20
