Get holiday spirit with greeting card contest

ST. PETERSBURG Help decorate the downtown waterfront and be a part of the winter holiday festivities. If you have an idea for a giant greeting card, submit an entry on two 6- by 12-inch white poster boards in a color, vertical format. Judging will be based on originality, execution, overall appearance and verse/concept. Winners will be selected from these entries, and cash awards will be given out. The greeting cards will be displayed along Vinoy Park for one month during the winter holiday season. The deadline for entries is Oct. 19. Call Polly at 892-5874 for more information. COUNTYWIDE Seminars will help with financial aid Learn all about securing financial aid for college in a series of seminars held by Pinellas County schools. Topics will include the Florida Bright Futures scholarship program and types of government grants and loans. Suicide bereavement group meets weekly The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast is forming a suicide bereavement support group for adults who have lost someone to suicide. The group will meet 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings through Oct. 23, at the Hospice Center for Loss and Healing, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Largo. To register, call Hospice at (727) 586-4432, ext. 3451.
