Sex offender found in Virginia, arrested

ORLANDO A sex offender who ran off with a 15-year-old Florida girl and then released her at a Wal-Mart in the Panhandle earlier this week has been arrested, police said Saturday. William Joe Mitchell, 46, was arrested by Virginia State Police at a gas station in Winchester, Va., according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Teens arrested in cop's slaying at ATM Two teenagers - one of whom was just released from state prison - are under arrest in connection with the robbery and shooting death of an off-duty Orlando police officer. Tips led investigators to Davin Smith, 19, and Hugo Terry, 17, who both lived in the Silver Hills Apartments, not far from the Pine Hills bank where Alfred L. Gordon was killed just before 1 a.m. Thursday after withdrawing money from an automated-teller machine.
