Boy, 2, found home alone, strapped to high chair

A 22-year-old Seffner woman was arrested Tuesday, charged with child neglect after leaving her 2-year-old son home alone and strapped to a high chair, authorities said.
A Hillsborough sheriff's deputy who had been to Stephanie Paige Thigpen's home earlier Tuesday morning later saw her at a gas station. The deputy asked about her son, who he had seen earlier, awake and playing. Thigpen admitted he was home alone, but said a drunk neighbor was listening out for him, according to a Sheriff's Office release.
The deputy went back to her home and found the boy strapped to the high chair. He arrested Thigpen when she returned. She was taken to the Orient Road Jail. Her son was placed with family members.

I don't understand how a parent can leave there child either home alone or in a car. it is absolutely ridiculous and then they get away with it by saying i forgot the child was in the car. how can forget u have a child.this crap makes me so mad.

Per HCSO Press Release on the incident, "Deputies responded to the residence of Stephanie Thigpen at 1:58 a.m. reference a disturbance call. Deputies discovered Stephanie along with several adults that reside at the address."

My comment is in Reference to Linda's concerning Sterilization. This is something the Chinese (Communist) use for population control and the Nazi used against certain classes of people. It is wrong. She needs to go to jail for her crime.

Where it says, "The deputy asked about her son, who he had seen earlier..." it should be "WHOM" -- how terrible that newswriters aren't familiar with correct grammar.

I Took in a baby at 5 months old just so he would be taken care of because thier are so many BAD parents out there. I hope she never gets him back. I hope she gets everything coming to her. but this State will not take her rights away.

good work for the officer. i say thigpen doesn't deserve kids and should not be aloud to have the child back nor have any more children. leaving the 2 year old in a high chairl and having a drunk neighbor listen for him. all for cigarettes

Why is it so many people can conceive children, do drugs, and be neglectfull? When a lot of good people would make good parents, and can't have them?
The U.S. ought to consider sterilization after 1 child is found neglected or hurt!

I hope they strap her to a chair for a couple of hours. First make her drink a 30oz soda and not let her use the restroom beforehand.Children need someone to love and protect them.

Good job for the cop doing his job. As the father of a girl who will be 2 in a couple of weeks I can not understand how parents can do this crap.
