Army Maj. Aristotle A. Vaseliades, son of Nicholas and Catherine Vaseliades of Gulfport, was recently promoted to his current rank. He is deputy chief of managed care at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu. He served during the initial invasion of Iraq, leading convoys of medical equipment and personnel to set up hospitals in Balad and Mosul. He received the Bronze Star, two Army commendations with V device, the Kuwait Award for establishing the first U.S. Army wing in the Kuwait Armed Forces and the Expert Field Medical Badge. He graduated suma cum laude from Northside Christian High School in 1993 and from Florida Southern College, Lakeland, with a degree in biology and chemistry and Baylor University, San Antonio, Texas, with a master's degree in healthcare administration.

Navy Airman James H. Hanney, son of Jimmie H. Hanney of St. Petersburg, has completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2004 graduate of Northeast High School.

These recruits have graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.:

Army Reserve Pvt. Verhonda S. Beaton, daughter of Angela Beaton of St. Petersburg and a student at Gibbs High School.

Army Pvt. Joseph Z. Gombeda, son of Lynelle Gombeda of Pinellas Park and a 2005 graduate of Largo High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. James E. Harris, son of James Harris of St. Petersburg.

Army Reserve Pfc. Brittnies. Ostrowski, daughter of Tim Ostrowski of St. Petersburg.
