St. Mark's to hold animal blessing service Saturday

ST. PETERSBURG

St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 6801 38th Ave. N, will hold a Blessing of the Animals service in celebration of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Birds, hamsters, fish, dogs on leashes, cats in crates and other pets are welcome. Animal lovers are also invited to the outdoor service. Cleanup aids and water will be available. Animal stewardship groups interested in having an information table should call St. Mark's office at 345-8863.

CLEARWATER

Temple to host book celebration Sunday

A celebration of the book, Histories of the Jewish People of Pinellas County, Florida: 1883-2005, by Dr. Herman Koren, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Temple B'nai Israel, 1685 S Belcher Road, Clearwater.

The program will feature the Jewish Federation of Pinellas County, Heritage Village, Largo Library and the Jewish Genealogical Society.

Meet the author, a professor emeritus of Indiana State University and guest speakers. Home baked treats from Temple B'nai Israel's Sisterhood will be served. Call (727) 531-5829.

SEMINOLE

Festival offers food, auction, lots of fun

Oakhurst United Methodist Church, 13400 Park Blvd., Seminole, will hold a festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

It will feature games, food, an auction, more than 60 vendor booths, a pumpkin patch, face painting, antique cars, a motorcycle show and kid games. Dick Fletcher will appear at 12:45 p.m. Al Nye the Magic Guy will perform at 2 p.m.
