District golf preview
Girls to watch
Shena Yang, Wharton, Jr.: Smooth-swinging junior, the returning Timesgolfer of the year, delivered a personal-best 32 this season.
Alex Milan, Sickles, Fr.: Tallied a district-low average score of 37. Combine that with senior Amanda Bair 39, and Sickles should control 2A-10.
Amy West, Durant, Jr.: West's past three rounds? Par, 2 under and 3 under. But can West and star Heather Wengyn (torn meniscus) upset undefeated Wharton in 2A-11?
Julie Rolfe, East Bay, Sr.: Along with younger sister, Abigail, Rolfe, above, makes Indians a threat to reach top three (and region berth).
Boys to watch
Kits Patel, Wharton, Sr.: Southpaw posted strong scores to help the Wildcats beat Plant and Plant City in the past week.
Doug Letson, Plant, Sr.: One of six Panthers capable of breaking 40.
Chris Biuso, King, Sr.: From tee to green, few in the county top Biuso, who has a scoring average of 36.
Jack Twomey, Jesuit, Jr.: Twomey finished 14th at state last year and has topped 40 only once this season in leading Tigers.
