CLEARWATER

Clearwater fire officials have identified the woman who died Tuesday in an apartment fire as Kathryn M. Oxley, 24. She was found dead in unit 9 of the 10-unit complex at 223 Dolphin Point on Island Estates, about 2:30 p.m. The fire burned out before firefighters arrived. Fire officials say it's not uncommon for fires in closed spaces to go out as they use up all the oxygen inside the building. The cause of the fire was still under investigation, according to authorities, but officials say neither the death nor the fire, which did about $30,000 in damage, are suspicious. Dolphin Point is a two-story apartment building located next to the Dolphin Cove condominium tower.

Why wait for Jazz Holiday?

The Clearwater Jazz Holiday is next week, but tonight, you can head to Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater for a free concert courtesy the Florida Orchestra. Conductor Andrew Grams will lead the orchestra in a program of symphonic and pops favorites. The concert starts at 7 p.m., and music-lovers can picnic under the stars. Bring canned foods for the Tampa Bay Harvest food drive.

Meet the author at book celebration

A celebration of the book, Histories of the Jewish People of Pinellas County, Florida: 1883-2005, by Dr. Herman Koren, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Temple B'nai Israel, 1685 S Belcher Road. The program will feature the Jewish Federation of Pinellas County, Heritage Village, Largo Library and the Jewish Genealogical Society. Meet the author, a professor emeritus at Indiana State University and guest speakers. Home-baked treats from Temple B'nai Israel's Sisterhood will be served. Call (727) 531-5829.
